Programme Objectives


This programme focuses on providing students with a more holistic view on the operation management in this industry and the necessary skills to tackle the issues one is likely to encounter. After the  successful completion of the modules, students may move on to the industrial attachment where they shall put the knowledge gained into practice.

At the end of the programme, the students will have acquired:

  • A sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills relating to the hospitality and tourism functions.

  • An adequate level of competency in general management skills as well as hospitality and tourism operations;

  • A more in-depth knowledge of the general management of operations, service and sales functions in the hospitality and tourism industries and can be expected to effectively formulated and implemented business plans of various natures.

  • A good understanding of how the knowledge gained in the modules blends into the practical working environment of the hospitality and tourism industry.

Admission Requirements


Any of the following:

  • International Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management (IDHT) OR,
  • Polytechnic holders of business diploma qualifications OR
  • Other Equivalent Qualifications

Note: Exemptions of up to a maximum of 50% of the programme may be granted on a case to case basis, subject to the approval of Informatics Academy.

English Requirement

  • IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.0 OR
  • TOEFL - Paper-based test a minimum score of 550 OR
  • Informatics Proficiency in English programme

Applicants, whose qualifications were conducted in a medium other than English, are required to undertake an Informatics English Placement Test to ascertain their level of competency in the language. Candidates who do not fulfill the minimum level of competency in English are required to go through the Proficiency in English programme (PIE). The level of PIE, of which they shall be placed, will depend on their results from the placement test.

Programme Structure and Duration
The course comprises 8 modules of study conducted on full-time basis

Intake April / August / December
Duration: Full Time: Minimum of 8 months
Programme Delivery:
  • The program will be delivered over 3 terms. Each trimester lasts for 17 weeks with classes conducted over the first 12 weeks.
  • Examinations are scheduled in the last 2 weeks of the term.
Method of Assessment:
  • Students are assessed through a variety of assessment strategies, including coursework and written examinations.
  • The assessment weightage for the modules will normally be 50% coursework and 50% examination.
