Programme Objectives

As the foundation and the first level of entry, this programme is designed for those seeking a career in Accounting, Banking and Finance. The programme is also appropriate for prospective executives who would like to acquire knowledge of book-keeping to record a company¡¯s financial performance, accounting transactions and also those who are keen to advance their accounting career.

At the end of this programme, students will have:

  • An understanding of accounting information derived from all sources in the company;
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of using relevant costs for decision making;
  • An understanding of the basic principles involved in cost behaviour and profit control;
  • The ability to use, appreciate and analytically interpret accounting statements and data.

Admission Requirements
  • LCCI/ Thames Diploma in Accounting
  • GCE ¡®A¡¯ Levels
  • The Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) Level 1 partially completed
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Level 1 partially completed
  • The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2
  • Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT) Level B
  • Other equivalent qualifications deemed appropriate by the Programme Leader

Mature Applicants
Admissions of mature applicants will lie at the discretion of Informatics Academy under the recommendation from the Programme Leader. The applicant will need to provide a brief written statement indicating why they wish to undertake this programme. The written statement will need to be submitted along with the standard registration form, and any copies of relevant academic certificates and details of work experience that must exceed 5 years. Approved students will be admitted into either the Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma level, depending on the extent of their work experience.

 

Programme Structure and Duration

The course comprises 8 modules of study conducted on both full-time and part-time basis

Duration:
Full Time : Minimum of 8 months
Part Time: Minimum of 12 months
Programme Delivery:

Day / evening classes taught by lecturers with industry-experience

Method of Assessment:

Assessment is via a mix of examination, written coursework and presentations components
