Programme Objectives

The programme aims to:

  • To provide a basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, introduce the business functions to which computers are applied, and examine the ways in which computers are integrated into business organizations.
  • To provide the specific mathematical skills required for the practical understanding of the use of computers, and sufficient training in programming to make possible the effective writing and documentation of a suite of programs in an appropriate programming language.

Admission Requirements

Minimum 16 years old:

  • ¡®A¡¯ Levels or equivalent conducted with English
  • ¡®A¡¯ Levels or equivalent conducted without English (Must do English Communication)
  • Minimum 3 GCE ¡®O¡¯ Levels or equivalent with English (Must do CT and LS as enrichment modules
  • Minimum 3 GCE ¡®O¡¯ Levels or equivalent without English (Must do English Communication, then Critical Thinking and Learning Skills as enrichment modules)
Mature Entry:
  • Minimum 21 years old with 2 years of secondary education or equivalent
  • No exemptions will be granted for prior work experience
  • Exemptions may be granted for professional certifications attained at the discretion of Informatics Academy

 

Programme Structure and Duration

The course comprises 8 modules of study conducted on both full-time and part-time basis

Intake:
February / April / June / August / October / December
Duration:
Full Time : Minimum of 8 months
Part Time: Minimum of 12 months
Programme Delivery:
  • Day / evening classes taught by lecturers with industry-experience
Method of Assessment:
  • For theory modules, students are assessed based on coursework / projects / examinations.
  • For practical modules, students are assessed based on presentation & dissertation / project components.
  • Examinations are typically conducted in the months of April, August and December for Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3 respectively.
