Programme Objectives

This course is intended for those seeking a career in the mass communication industry and aims to develop their skills in dealing with existing mass media and with the challenge of new communications technology.

It will inculcate on participants the fundamentals of using the tools of public relations, advertising, marketing and journalism in particular, as the key industries of the field, to disseminate information to various publics.

Upon completion and graduation of the course, students will have:

  • In-depth training in practical skills such as writing for various media, marketing, management practices and research methods
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of concepts of communication
  • Ability to use the tools of the key media industries, understand the concepts of mass communication and how they are related to their chosen industries, and adapt the skills they have acquired to their projects and assignments to their workplace.

Admission Requirements

Minimum 16 years of age AND, any of the following;

  • Students with 3 GCE 'O' levels levels (English Medium) are required to complete the Enrichment modules for Critical Thinking and Learning Skills;
  • Students with 3 GCE 'O' levels levels (Non -English Medium) are required to complete the Enrichment modules for Critical Thinking, Learning Skills and English for Communication;
  • Informatics Foundation Programme Certificate
  • ITE NITEC, COS and NTC Holder
  • Minimum of 2 passes at GCE 'A' levels
  • Other equivalent qualifications deemed acceptable by Informatics Academy.

Mature Entry

  • Minimun 21 years old with at least 2 years working experience

 

Programme Structure and Duration

The course comprises 8 modules of study conducted on both full-time and part-time basis

Duration:
Full Time : Minimum of 8 months
Part Time: Minimum of 12 months
Programme Delivery:

Day / evening classes taught by lecturers with industry-experience

Method of Assessment:

Students are assessed based on coursework / projects / examinations.
