Master of Science in Strategic Business Information Technology (MSc SBIT) is a continual education from Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business Information Technology (PgD SBIT) offered by NCC Education. This programme provides a thorough knowledge of IT in business, strategy and management. There is a strong IT theme running throughout the course and an opportunity to build on existing technical competencies, in networking, to an advanced level. The programme focuses on four main skill-sets:

• Academic skills at post-degree level
• Task management skills
• Business strategy skills
• Advanced technology skills

It is ideal for individuals who wish to build on their existing IT skills whilst being introduced to a range of business and management issues so as to equip them with relevant skills and knowledge to undertake responsibilities. IT personnel who wish to enhance their career opportunities specifically in the areas of Management and Strategic Business Analysis.

At the end of the programme, students will be able to:

• Acquire necessary abilities to analyse the complex and interacting issues of a real world domain
• Identify and be capable of analysis of alternative approaches to addressing issues, and to select the most appropriate approach on the basis of experience and disciplined thought.

Within the marketplace, there are many diverse vocational qualifications which are aimed at senior IT personnel, but these are always biased towards a specific product, hardware, software or business need. The programme is an overall, single qualification that merges the practical or real world problems with the theoretical business models.

As this is a postgraduate diploma level course in IT, it is essential that all candidates have a strong knowledge of using IT. In addition candidates need to have an in depth knowledge of computer networking or, alternatively, study the Computer Networking & Management module. The PgD SBIT is designed for IT professionals and thus, we believe, it is essential that all candidates can demonstrate at a high level a practical and theoretical command of networking on course completion.

• An IT Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or
• A non-IT degree but with at least 3 years work experience in an IT environment together with some management or supervisory experience, or
• For non-degree holders, 5 years work experience in an IT environment together with some management or supervisory experience. It is recognized that many experienced IT professionals who work within the industry do not have a degree. Therefore, where an IT professional can display a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, and is able to show his/her suitability, he/she may be accepted onto the programme, and
• For candidates whose Bachelor's degree was completed in a language other than English: TOEFL score of 580 - 600 or IELTS score of 6.0 - 6.5, LCCIEB ELSA Test or their equivalent.
