Programme Description


The programme is specially designed to provide students with a foundational learning in Business for students who are interested
in the area Business Administration. The programme offers students with 3 specialisations ¨C Finance, Management, Marketing.

Each specialisation will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the related field of study in order to prepare them for
a successful career.


Programme Objectives
Finance Specialisation
The programme aims to:

  • Provide a coherent range of units to equip students to enter industry with skills suitable for a career in Finance.

  • Equip graduates with the ability to make sound financial decisions as well as relevant skills that aids their employability
    in the corporate financial arena.

  • Target those planning to make a career in finance and also those wanting to switch to a financial career.

Management Specialisation
The main objectives of this programme are as follows:

  • This degree scheme aims to provide students with a broad-based business management qualification that will prepare students for positions in management.

  • The programme emphasizes on global business activities as seen in units like Global Business Strategies and International Marketing Strategies.

Marketing Specialisation
The main objectives of this programme are as follows:

  • To provide an educational outreach for those seeking a career in Business Administration and/or Marketing.
  • It aims prospective executives with the knowledge and disciplines required for the effective running of the business.
  • To provide students with sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills relating to the marketing function. In essence, students will be able to identify and analyse business problems, collect relevant data so that business, marketing plans and policies can be effectively formulated and implemented.

Advancement Pathway

Graduates may gain direct entry to the Master of Business Administration by the University of Wales online or may apply to pursue other Master degrees upon successful completion of the programme.

Assessment:

To be awarded the qualification, students must pass all modules of the course.
Students are assessed based on assignments and examinations for every module. Final grade for each module is based on Coursework ¨C 40% and Final Examinations ¨C60% (subject to changes). Weightage may vary between units.

Students need to pass both the examination components and the coursework components in order to pass the module. Strategic Marketing Management (Analysis and Decision) is assessed through open book examinations.

Note: Examinations are typically conducted in the months of January, May and September.

Programme Duration:

Students should aim to complete the third year top-up programme within one year. The maximum duration of the programmes is two years.

Module Duration:

12 weeks per module.


Entry Requirements:
  • Thames International Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (IADBA) OR,

  • Other Equivalent Qualifications as approved by Thames Business School and the University of Wales.
