Programme Objectives

Graduates of this programme will be able to:

  • work as a professional in the Information Technology industry
  • demonstrate sound presentation and communication skills which are required in the computing industry
  • acquire specific knowledge and skills relevant to their disciplines and careers
  • develop appropriate intellectual, professional and personal attributes
  • become good problem-solvers and innovative thinkers, who are able to learn new skills independently and efficiently and consequently to succeed in a competitive professional environment
  • demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of information technology
  • identify information needs appropriate to their area of specialization and apply the techniques required to gather and interpret such information
  • demonstrate skills in the analysis and determination of technological issues at management level
  • identify, analyze and solve problems in one or more areas of information technology by selecting and using either quantitative or qualitative techniques appropriate to the resolution of technical problems
  • satisfy academic admission requirements for membership of relevant professional bodies

  • be capable of working with people from other disciplines towards the solution of common problems.

On completion of the Games and Creative Technologies major, graduates will:

  • understand and be able to take part in the game development life cycle
  • have acquired skills in specialist programming techniques specific to high performance computing and games programming
  • be able to program in 2-D and 3-D virtual environments
  • be able to understand and apply mathematical concepts to manipulating virtual environments
  • have a sound understanding of programming environments on Linux and Visual Studio .NET.

Admission Requirements
International Advanced Diploma in Games and Animation Technology
  • Advanced Diploma in Information Technology
  • Students who hold International Advanced Diploma in Computing from Informatics will receive 12 courses of exemption from the USQ BIT
  • Students who hold International Advanced Diploma in Info-comm technology from Informatics will receive 12 courses of exemption from the USQ BIT
  • Any 3-year diploma from any Singapore Polytechnic ¨C minimum of 8 block exemptions. (Entry into second year). Students may be eligible for more depending on the extent of equivalent or relevant courses completed in relation to the major of interest
  • Any 3-year IT diploma from any Singapore Polytechnic ¨C 16 block exemptions.(This includes all Business IT diplomas)

Exemptions
Exemption applications will be processed on a case by case basis due to the specialized nature of this qualification.

Full Time: Minimum of 12 months
Part Time / Distance Learning : Minimum of 16 months

Method of Assessment:
This program is assessed through coursework and summative assessment.
