OSA is an acronym for Overseas Students Association; a formal organisation that represents all international students studying in Singapore. The association was formed on the 1st of December 2005 with the aim of developing the cultural, social, recreation and sports skills of the students. Any student who holds a valid student pass and is sixteen years of age can become a member of this organisation. The OSA organises various events for the students as leisure activities as well as to build intercultural relationships.

The OSA FUN BUZZ is one such event which is held annually, this year the event was held on the 7th of February at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Sports Complex. The guest of honour of the event was Mr. Lee Pak Sing of Singapore youth Olympic games together with Mr. Conceicao, Director Education Services, Singapore Tourism Board.

There were a total of 280 participants, mainly students of different cultures from various schools and colleges in Singapore.

The event comprised of five games, namely:

  • Wargh games
  • Gladiater jousting
  • Blanket volleyball
  • Pushball
  • Six legged race

The teams which participated were divided into 5 groups with 6 members in each group.  Each team competed against the other teams in the same group. Each team had to play all the five games, and points were given to the winning team of the group. The team that scored the highest number of points in all the games will emerge as the winner.

A total of four teams from Informatics took part in the event, team ‘Informatics’ from our campus emerged champions followed by team ‘Pappadum’ in second position and team ‘Old Aunty’ in third position. A special price was given to team ‘Star Ocean’ for best team spirit.

The winner was awarded a total cash price of S$1500 while the first runner up and the second runner up were awarded S$ 1000 and S$500 respectively. Medals and certificates were presented to all winners, while movie tickets were given out to all participants.

We were quite confident that everyone brought something home, prizes, friendship, fun and laughter!
