Mastermind
4 March 2009

“You know more than you think you know, just as you know less than you want to know” – Oscar Wilde

The Informatics Mastermind was conceived with an idea of knowing what we did not know and with the notion of making others understand what they know. The very knowledge of the fact that we have a vibrant multicultural environment in the campus made it a necessity to evolve a mantra which could help us understand each other’s culture and history better.

It had many objectives – improving our knowledge on current affairs, sowing the seeds of inquisitiveness, building self confidence, enlightening the borderless world concept, fostering greater interaction among cultures, contributing to the concept of harmonious coexistence, developing an international perspective and empowering the students with a new understanding of what has been, what can be and what it is now.
It was a simple idea that sprouted and was watered and supported by Mr. David D and Ms. Preethi. Last but not the least, an enterprising team of students namely; Sushil from Nepal, Parveen from India, Victoria from Nigeria, Chugu from Mongolia, Huyi, Rain and Tao from Vietnam.

Video clips were developed and inspiring class talks were conducted to tease students prior to the quiz. It was highlighted that “there will be no losers; all participants are winners in their own knowledge world”.

The quiz drew 24 participants, and was conducted at the school auditorium on 4 March 2009.

The Informatics Mastermind was aimed as a paradigm shift from the usual student activities that are fun and entertaining. Instead, it stresses on knowledge sharing. It was like trudging the road less travelled, yet an enriching experience for all.
We definitely look forward to the next one in time to come!
