Do you need a new look?

When did you last change your hair? What do old friends say about your look when you see them? How confident are you about your appearance? Do you have a signature style which needs an update? If your answer is yes for the last question, forget about extreme make-overs that you see on TV, or hiring a style expert for grooming sessions. Here are a few tips you can follow for a quick do-it-yourself make-over.

Tip # 1: Know your own shape
Recognize and accept that not all of us have bodies of supermodels. Take a good look at the shape of your body, whether you are top heavy, or have hips that are wider than your shoulders or a pudgy belly. Knowing which areas of your body you want to hide or accentuate will help you make better decisions about the designs and cuts of the next outfits you buy. For example those with heavy bottoms should avoid anything too tight or short skirts. Instead, choose lightweight materials with straight or boot cut leg pants.
For those who are top heavy, opt for apparels with fabrics that are body skimming, like knits of woven with stretch for better fit. Go for necklines that flatter the shape of your body, such as V-neck, boat neck and turtle.

Tip #2: Good Jeans
Invest in a good pair of jeans to show that you are still current and up-to-date with the fashion trend. It is not quite necessary for you to get the skinniest skinny jeans if the fit is unflattering to your body shape, but instead go for dark wash, slim cut legs with a bit of a boot cut.

Tip #3: Shoes Matter
As much as we’d like to think shoes are the least of our worries when it comes to our appearance, people do notice the footwear we put on everyday and to some, the shoes tell all. We like comfort but there is no reason why your fashion sense needs to take a backseat when it comes to shoes.

Tip # 4: Dress for your Skin Tone
Besides knowing the shape of your body, being aware of your skin tone is just as important, so that you will pick clothes with colours that flatter your overall appearance. The right colours will influence the way you feel and radiate towards others. For example those with a pale or porcelain white complexions should avoid dressing in earthy tones or pale colours like beige, orange and gold, as these colours will tend to make them look faded and washed out.
People with very dark toned skin should avoid black and white, which will be too contrasting. Instead opt for pale, soft colours such as peach, golden yellow or brown and clear blues.

Generally, looking good also has a lot to do with how you feel on the inside. Feeling good and looking good has to be at equilibrium before you can face the world with full confidence and radiance!
