Youth Olympics Countdown

It is official! Singapore will be hosting the inaugural Youth Olympics in 2010. About 70 of Informatics students participated in the countdown event at City Hall Marina Bay with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong who called it a new era for Southeast Asian sport. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the Games to the city-state ahead of Moscow by a vote of 53 to 44. It will be the first time that Singapore is hosting a multi-disciplinary sporting event of such a magnitude.
To Informatics students who are clearly passionate about sports and recreation, this means an excuse to be spending more time at the sports hall within the campus, brushing up on their favourite games and be inspired to play harder and better.
The countdown event ended with a dance and party session and some students were even invited up on stage where they could show off their unique moves in the big celebration.
